A striking pair of handcrafted Venetian jester masks, created in Italy circa 2000 and inspired by the rich theatrical traditions of Commedia dell’Arte. These original Venetian folk art creations are entirely hand-drawn, hand-painted, and hand-assembled, faithfully respecting the centuries-old craftsmanship techniques that have defined Venice’s mask-making heritage since the 17th century.
Each mask features a sculpted papier-mâché face, meticulously decorated with gilt scrollwork, ornamental detailing, and expressive features. The elaborate headdresses—one crafted from curled sheet-music motifs and the other from velvet-trimmed felt panels—are embellished with braided borders, metallic accents, and small jingle bells, adding movement and character.
Both masks are fitted with their original opera sticks, allowing them to be carried for masquerade events or elegantly displayed as wall art. Their dramatic scale and theatrical presence make them ideal focal points for entryways, galleries, living rooms, or collectors of Venetian and performance-related decorative arts.
