The piece
A very good quality Pair of French Mid-Century (1940's) bronze wall sconces with two scroll and cornucopia design arms with a round glass bobeche and supported by a gorgeous shaped backplate. These beautiful wall sconces are in the style of Jean Perzel.

In 1923, at the age of 31, Jean Perzel specialized in the study of lighting modern interiors and founded his company. He set up his showroom and manufacturing workshop on rue de la Cité Universitaire in the 14th arrondissement. From 1925, Jean Perzel, obsessed with the idea of amplifying light, made all his glass pieces. He will draw all his creations himself, in a perpetual search for elegance and purity of forms.

These wall lights highlight the architecture of the places for which they are intended. The pure lines of these wall lights will enhance any setting that time will not mark.

Notes on this piece

  • On the attribution. Words such as “style of”, “manner of”, “attributed to”, “after” or “circle of”, and period-style labels such as “Louis XV style”, describe our informed opinion based on form, construction and materials. They are not a certification of authorship, and not a guarantee of investment value. Where authorship is documented, we say so plainly and name the evidence.
  • Antique lighting. Sold as a decorative object. Where a piece has been rewired we say so in the description. Any antique lighting should be inspected and installed by a licensed electrician before use.
