The piece

A superb pair of American cast iron bookends titled "Cape Cod Fisherman", cast circa 1928.

These finely modelled bookends depict a weathered New England fisherman in traditional coastal attire, embodying the rugged maritime character of Cape Cod in the early twentieth century.

Executed in heavy cast iron with a richly textured surface and a deep, naturally developed patina.
