Muller Frères was founded in 1895 in Lunéville, France, by Henri Muller and four of his brothers, who had trained under Émile Gallé. Their earliest work, largely cameo glass, closely reflected Gallé's Art Nouveau style, and the firm competed directly with Daum and Gallé until production halted with the outbreak of war in 1914.
Production resumed in 1919, by which point the company had shifted toward lighting — ceiling fixtures, wall sconces and table lamps — moving from Art Nouveau toward Art Deco, characterized by marbled glass and geometric, molded forms often mounted in bronze or wrought iron. At its height the firm employed around 300 workers. Production stopped in 1933, and the factory closed in 1936.
