The symbols are absolutely beautiful, they represent the Capricorn zodiac sign of those born December 22-January 20th, signed on the bottom of this charming decorative object.
One of a series of bronze dishes sculpted and cast by Max Le Verrier, this example inspired by ancient Greek coinage. Le Verrier opened his own studio in 1919 and won a medal at the famed 1925 Exposition in Paris that gave "Art Deco" its name. Later, he established a foundry that cast bronze sculptures for Pierre Le Faguays and Marcel Bourain, among others. Although Le Verrier experimented with other alloys, he continued to create pieces in bronze as well.

Max Le Verrier was born at Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1891, son of a Parisian goldsmith. He flew in the First World War, then studied in Geneva alongside Marcel Bouraine and Pierre Le Faguays.
Around 1921 he opened his own metal foundry in Paris, casting for those sculptors as well as making his own work — lean, athletic figures, crisp geometry, and the green patina he is known for. He took a gold medal at the 1925 Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels and a medal of honour at the Paris International of 1937.
The foundry has continued to cast from Le Verrier models after his death in 1973, and the name is also widely reproduced. A Le Verrier signature identifies the model and the house; it is not on its own a date.

Packing
Packed by hand. Fragile items are double-boxed with custom foam inserts. Glass and detachable elements are removed, packed separately and reassembled on arrival.
If something arrives damaged
Photograph the packaging and the piece before unpacking further, and contact us within 48 hours. We handle all freight claims directly and will arrange a resolution.
Returns
One day from delivery for a change of mind — buyer pays shipping and a 15% restocking fee. If the fault is ours, none of that applies: 7 days, full refund including your original shipping, we pay the return freight, no restocking fee. See our refund policy.
