Antonio Salviati (1816–1890) was a Venetian lawyer, born in Vicenza, who turned to glassmaking after involvement in the restoration of the mosaics of St. Mark's Basilica. In 1859 he founded Salviati & Co. in Murano with Enrico Podio and Lorenzo Radi, aiming to revive Murano's glass industry after decades of decline.
Salviati was the first modern Murano factory owner to produce glass at scale for export, and Radi's discovery of chalcedony glass helped the firm gain international attention at the 1862 London World's Fair, leading to commissions including mosaic work for the Houses of Parliament and St. Paul's Cathedral.
