Faience production at Quimper began in 1690 when Jean-Baptiste Bousquet, a potter from Marseille, established a workshop later continued by his descendants. A recurring design associated with the region is the "petit breton," a stylized Breton figure in traditional costume, hand-painted freehand onto raw enamel.

Keraluc was founded separately in 1946 by ceramics engineer Victor Lucas, who gathered a group of regional artists including Paul Yvain, Pierre Toulhoat, René Quéré and Xavier Krebs. Keraluc closed in 1984.
