A finely decorated Chinese porcelain vase executed in the vibrant famille jaune palette, featuring hand-painted figural reserves set within scrolling cartouches against a richly enameled yellow ground.

The body is adorned with alternating narrative scenes depicting elegant court figures in garden settings, rendered with refined line work and soft polychrome enamels in tones of green, iron red, and pale aubergine. These reserves are framed by stylized floral motifs and scrolling borders, while the neck is encircled by geometric and foliate banding in complementary tones.

The underside bears a four-character underglaze blue mark in the manner of the Qianlong period. While not of the period, the mark reflects the continued reverence for earlier imperial wares and suggests a later production, likely early to mid-20th century, in the Qing dynasty style. Late Qing Dynasty style, likely early Republic period, circa 1900–1920.

The form, with its slightly compressed ovoid body and flared cylindrical neck, lends itself well to both standalone display and integration into layered interior compositions. The vivid yellow ground — historically associated with imperial wares — adds a striking decorative presence.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Minor surface wear and light kiln or firing imperfections consistent with production. Some discoloration and age-related wear visible to the rim interior and base, as shown. No cracks or restorations observed.

Scholarly note: The present example reflects characteristics consistent with late Qing dynasty revival production transitioning into the early Republic period. The use of a saturated famille jaune ground, combined with finely outlined figural reserves and controlled polychrome enamel work, aligns with decorative porcelains produced during this period of renewed interest in earlier imperial aesthetics. The four-character mark, rendered in the manner of the Qianlong reign, is best understood as an apocryphal homage rather than a period mark, a practice widely observed in late 19th to early 20th century porcelain.

Domestic shipping

Every piece ships from our warehouse in Miami. Shipping is quoted per order, so you are never charged an estimate — we price the actual crate, the actual route, and the actual service level, and send it to you before you commit.

Small and medium decorative objects — lamps, vases, prints, ceramics — travel by FedEx or UPS Ground, fully insured, signature required. Typical transit is 3–7 business days.

Furniture and large pieces travel by white-glove freight with BMC International Freight. Delivery is room of choice, subject to the carrier's access at your address. Freight transit varies by destination and is typically 7–14 business days. We contact you to arrange a delivery window.

International shipping

We ship worldwide, quoted case by case. Tell us the piece and the destination and we will price crating, freight, insurance and customs handling for you.

Packing

Every piece is packed by hand using museum-quality materials. Fragile items are double-boxed with custom foam inserts. Glass and detachable elements are removed and packed separately, then reassembled on arrival.

Returns

Returns are accepted within one day of delivery. To return a piece, notify us within that window and return it in the same condition in which it arrived.

The buyer pays all shipping costs — outbound and return — and a 15% restocking fee.

If something arrives damaged
