This type of vessel was commonly used for:
Wedding or ceremonial purposes – possibly to hold sweets, spices, perfumes, or symbolic items during traditional celebrations.
Storage of valuables or offerings – its ornate design and secure lid suggest it held items of some importance.
Hospitality rituals – in some cultures, containers like this held fragrant water, rosewater, or incense offered to guests.
The floral and geometric motifs, along with the stylized calligraphy (visible in the earlier photo), are hallmarks of Islamic decorative arts, where aniconic designs dominate due to religious traditions.
Similar pieces can be found in Moroccan souks, often as part of wedding dowries or traditional Berber household wares.
Ottoman Influence: The shape and decorative elements also align with Ottoman Turkish and Persian influences, which spread into North Africa.
Antique Moorish Style Wedding Vessel, hand-crafted and hand etched.
This decorative piece is in beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is antique and not new so there are signs of use and wear. We have left this piece with its natural age patina. Please see photos, as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray all imperfections.
Measures: 7" High x 5 1/4" Diameter
Material: The metal appears to be pewter or a similar alloy, commonly used in that period for domestic or ceremonial vessels.
Script: There is an inscription that seems to be in Persian or Arabic script, which could provide a name, place, or possible dedication—potentially helping narrow down the origin and era.
Wear & Patina: The even oxidation and wear are consistent with a piece that is at least 80–150 years old.

Domestic shipping
Every piece ships from our warehouse in Miami. Shipping is quoted per order, so you are never charged an estimate — we price the actual crate, the actual route, and the actual service level, and send it to you before you commit.
Small and medium decorative objects — lamps, vases, prints, ceramics — travel by FedEx or UPS Ground, fully insured, signature required. Typical transit is 3–7 business days.
Furniture and large pieces travel by white-glove freight with BMC International Freight. Delivery is room of choice, subject to the carrier's access at your address. Freight transit varies by destination and is typically 7–14 business days. We contact you to arrange a delivery window.
International shipping
We ship worldwide, quoted case by case. Tell us the piece and the destination and we will price crating, freight, insurance and customs handling for you.
Packing
Every piece is packed by hand using museum-quality materials. Fragile items are double-boxed with custom foam inserts. Glass and detachable elements are removed and packed separately, then reassembled on arrival.
Returns
Returns are accepted within one day of delivery. To return a piece, notify us within that window and return it in the same condition in which it arrived.
The buyer pays all shipping costs — outbound and return — and a 15% restocking fee.
This mirrors the terms you already know from the major marketplaces. Because the window is short, we would rather you ask first: request additional photographs, measurements or a condition report before you buy, and we will send them the same day.
If something arrives damaged
Photograph the packaging and the piece before unpacking further, and contact us within 48 hours. We handle all freight claims directly and will arrange a resolution.
