The piece

A charming 19th century French majolica plate featuring a beautifully sculpted relief of two songbirds perched among grape vines and leaves.

The piece showcases turquoise, grey, rose, yellow and green glazes, framed by a scalloped border with scrollwork. It exhibits the characteristic crackle glaze produced by period firing techniques.

Attributed to Sarreguemines, it is well suited to wall display or to a cabinet arrangement.
